Heading to New Orleans for #ONA2019 and not sure what to wear in Louisiana in the fall? Well, you’re in luck. The Society of Former Special Agents of the Federal Bureau of Investigation had their annual conference in NOLA in 1972, and their official publication, “The Grapevine,” has you covered. Literally.

The document, uncovered in the Central Intelligence Agency’s declassified archives, also contains a glossary of useful phrases, such as “cafe au lait” and “Mardi Gras”

and this lovely view from one of the famous balconies of the “Vieux Carré.”

As a native, I’ll politely avoid comment, though I will add that the line “You will see all extremes of dress in the French Quarter” is a masterclass in understatement.
