Judi Bari was a union organizer and activist for the organization Earth First!, and is perhaps best known for her organizing against logging in the redwood forests of California, as well as the controversial car bombing attempt on her life and her subsequent lawsuit against the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Oakland Police Department.

A request sent to the FBI for all files on Bari came back with a staggering 3,228 pre-processed pages, with more files from both the Bureau and the National Archives and Records Administration on the way. We’ve loaded the file into our Assignment tool for crowdsourcing, and you can help us analyze the records here.

We’re waiting on NARA to send over an FBI file that was transferred to them, while the FBI is processing even more documents responsive to this request. A request sent to Oakland PD in January is still being processed as well. In the meantime, you can help us go through the currently released pages via the assignment below.
