Release Notes: Planned downtime Saturday

Our services will be inaccessible from 1-3 p.m. Eastern time on Saturday April 15, 2023

Written by

This coming Saturday, April 15, 2023, MuckRock services — including MuckRock itself, DocumentCloud, and our MuckRock Accounts service — will be inaccessible from 1-3 p.m. Eastern while we upgrade our backend database systems.

During Saturday’s downtime, MuckRock and DocumentCloud will be largely inaccessible, including document uploads, request pages, news articles and filing tools. Our support email and Slack channel will remain active. Incoming emails and communications from agencies will be processed normally once the site is back up and running.

We’ll be increasing cache times on DocumentCloud embeds, so those should generally remain accessible while we complete the upgrades and we’ll update both Twitter and Mastodon when the upgrades are complete.

We do our best to avoid disruptions, and this is the first scheduled downtime in several years. We know this will make us stronger.

PS. If you’re excited about helping make our systems stronger, definitely check out our Add-Ons! You can do powerful things with them.
