washington state vehicle registration records

Thank you for your attached request received January 15, 2016 by the Washington Department of Licensing for "an electronic copy of all vehicle registration records for the years of 2005-2015"

The department does not retain copies of yearly registration renewals so we are not able to provide you with this record in accordance with RCW 42.56.010<http://apps.leg.wa.gov/rcw/default.aspx?cite=42.56.010> of the Public Records Act.
Instead, we have the electronic transaction information of these and the agency may be able to produce a record for you, tailored to your needs, if we process your request as a data services request.

Depending on the complexity of the programming involved, there may be programming fees involved in the creation of your record. Your request has been forwarded to the Data Services team and they will be in contact with you about the details of your request.

Additionally, our Data Services team needs registration defined. Does that mean titles with registration? Is that any and all registration renewals (renewals and titles with registration)? Just renewals?

Also, are you wanting a count for each year or wanting vehicle info for each registration? If it's the 2nd, what data are you wanting to receive? I.e. Make, model, year, etc.

We can only provide 6 yrs of data, due to retention schedules.

We can provide you the vehicle information VIN, make, model, year, etc but in accordance with RCW 46.12.630<http://app.leg.wa.gov/RCW/default.aspx?cite=46.12.630>, Lists of registered and legal owners of vehicles, we cannot provide the vehicle owners names and addresses. If you wish to pursue that, please complete the attached Vehicle/Vessel Contract Application.

If you still want to proceed with obtaining vehicle information only, there is a fee of $47.99 per hour to reimburse our data services staff’s time. It is estimated that is will take four hours to complete this request which would be $191.96. However, we will bill you for actual time it takes which could be more or less. Please provide a name and address to send the invoice.

I’m not sure which solution you mean. Completing a contract application or did you want vehicle information with no owner names or to close the request.
