All emails to Charles Benbrook from gmolist@googlegroups.com covering January 1, 2012 through December 31, 2014.
We hope to complete our review of records responsive to your Public Records Request and respond to you by October 12, 2016, however, more time may be necessary.
Your request for WSU records is not confidential. All Public Records Requests are public records. The records responsive to a request may contain names, identifiers, or information about other people (such as employees, former employees, students, former students, or third parties). WSU may send a notice to people named in the records informing them that their name, identifiers, or other information about them will be disclosed under the Public Records Act and provide them sufficient time in which to seek legal counsel to determine whether to file a motion in Whitman County Superior Court to enjoin disclosure. The University charges fifteen cents a page for photocopies or to scan paper records to create a pdf in accordance with RCW 42.56.120, WAC 504-45-070(1), and WAC 44-14-07003.

Please note that Charles Benbrook is no longer a WSU employee and his email account has been deleted. Our Central I.T. Department is not able to recover any of his emails. Public Records was in possession of 2014 emails due to your public records request 15-279. Records we received responsive to that request (for all of Dr. Chuck Benbrook's 2014 emails) was searched for responsive records for this request (included in this installment). We are still investigating to see if any of the 2012 or 2013 emails were kept by his department. However, messages from gmolist@googlegroups.com to Charles Benbrook may not have been considered relevant to WSU business for retention purposes.
We hope to complete our review of the 2nd installment of records responsive to your Public Records Request (if records exist) and respond to you by November 15, 2016, however, more time may be necessary.

The person who dealt with that request retired and I started last November. I just used emails pulled from that request and since we have changed from Mac to PC and how we provide information it will take some time for me to research what was and possibly what was not sent but I'll let you know.

I discussed this with our attorney and he said that Dr. Benbrook argued that many of the emails were personal and not related to WSU business so that may have been why they were not released. We are extremely busy right now so it will be awhile until I have the time to go back to investigate further.
