From: Shawn Musgrave
To Whom It May Concern:
Pursuant to the Rhode Island Access to Public Records Act ("APRA"), I hereby request the following records:
A copy of the police log for the past week (7 days).
I also request that, if appropriate, fees be waived as I believe this request is in the public interest. The requested documents will be made available to the general public free of charge as part of the public information service at MuckRock.com, processed by a representative of the news media/press and is made in the process of news gathering and not for commercial usage.
In the event that fees cannot be waived, I would be grateful if you would inform me of the total charges in advance of fulfilling my request. I would prefer the request filled electronically, by e-mail attachment if available or CD-ROM if not.
Thank you in advance for your anticipated cooperation in this matter. I look forward to receiving your response to this request within 10 business days, as the statute requires.
Sincerely,
Shawn Musgrave

Subject: Response to Records Request
Mr. Musgrave,
Earlier today I received your fax request for a copy of the police log for the past week (7 days). If you wish to ensure that future record requests are completed in a timely fashion, I would ask that you do one of the following:
1. Call 245-1311 and ask for Sergeant Michael Marcello, the Warren Police Department Open Records' Officer.
2. Email Sgt Marcello @ michaelmarcello@warrenripd.com
3. Fax to (401) 247-0091.
Regarding this request, I will not be able to waive the cost (acknowledging your believe that this request is in the public interest). As you are aware, RIGL 38-2-4(a) allows for the department to charge .15 per page. Your request is 39 pages and would be $5.85 if you are to pick up at police headquarters. If mailed, approximate cost would be $1.15; therefore, you would be required to send $7.00 to the Warren Police Department at the attention of Sergeant Michael Marcello.
In the interest of providing you with the requested records in a timely fashion, please advise me of your intentions as soon as possible.
Sincerely,
Deputy Chief Joseph R. Loiselle
