To Whom It May Concern:
Pursuant to the Vermont Public Records Act, I hereby request the following records:
All email correspondence with officials in Gov. Phil Scott's office and officials at the Vermont National Guard including, but not limited to, Maj. Gen. Steven A. Cray. The email accounts of Guard officials will end in "@mail.mil." Search terms should include, but are not limited to, "f35," "digger," "base," "greco," Leahy," and "plane." Please search for all emails between Jan. 20, 2017 and present day.
The requested documents will be made available to the general public, and this request is not being made for commercial purposes.
In the event that there are fees, I would be grateful if you would inform me of the total charges in advance of fulfilling my request. I would prefer the request filled electronically, by e-mail attachment if available or CD-ROM if not.
Thank you in advance for your anticipated cooperation in this matter. I look forward to receiving your response to this request within 3 business days, as the statute requires.
Sincerely,
Jasper Craven

Hi Jasper - just to clarify, do you want all email correspondence with officials the Vermont National or a more narrow set of correspondence relating to certain topics? Not clear why you have thrown in the search terms if you want all correspondence. Thanks so much. Jaye

Jaye,
Thanks for the quick response. If it's possible to get all correspondence, that would be great. But if y'all deem that request to broad, then please send along emails containing the key words I provided. Thanks!
From: Office of the Governor - Vermont
Thanks Jasper -This is to let you know we will need to extend the response date to no later than June 18, 2018 in accordance with 1 VSA 318(a)(5)(B) due to the need to search through, collect and review a voluminous amount of separate and distinct records demanded in this request. Thanks so much. Jaye

Hi Jasper - Thank you for your patience. It turns out all emails which end in @mail.mil is too voluminous to easily produce, but we are searching that universe of emails as requested. We are doing our best to produce all records requested as timely as possible. Thanks. Jaye

To Whom It May Concern:
I'm following up on the following Vermont Public Records Act request, copied below, and originally submitted on June 4, 2018. You had previously indicated that it would be completed on June 18, 2018. I wanted to check on the status of my request, and to see if there was a new estimated completion date.
Thanks for your help, and let me know if further clarification is needed.
From: Office of the Governor - Vermont
Hi Jasper –
Thank you again for your patience. Our search tool was not working correctly when searching staff no longer employed by this office but would be part of your requested time of January 20, 2017 to present. In working with our IT staff, we have since resolved the issue and are in the process of preparing the documents responsive to your request.
As you are aware from a previous email from Jaye, the @mail.mil was too voluminous to easily produce, however we searched that universe of emails using the search terms "f35," "digger," "base," "greco," Leahy," and "plane” as you requested.
Although this request has taken a substantial amount of time, we will not be charging for the request but reserve the right to do so for future requests.
Again, thank you for your patience.
Karen
Records Officer

Phil Scott's office and officials at the Vermont National Guard including, but not limited to, Maj. Gen. Steven A. Cray, except as set forth herein, the last documents responsive to your request, as amended, are attached with this email. Certain records have been redacted or withheld to the extent they are exempt from disclosure under 1 V.S.A. 317(c)(4), including those which were prepared for the purpose of formulating policy and making decisions. One phone number has been redacted for personal priovacy.
