This is a request under the Freedom of Information Act. I hereby request the following records:
Materials describing the general location and purpose of Special Operations Command facilities within the United States.
I am a member of the news media and request classification as such. I have previously written about the government and national security matters for AND Magazine, MuckRock and Glomar Disclosure. My articles have been widely read, with some reaching over 100,000 readers. As such, as I have a reasonable expectation of publication and my editorial and writing skills are well established.
The requested documents will be made available to the general public, and this request is not being made for commercial purposes.
In the event that there are fees, I would be grateful if you would inform me of the total charges in advance of fulfilling my request. I would prefer the request filled electronically, by e-mail attachment if available or CD-ROM if not.
Thank you in advance for your anticipated cooperation in this matter. I look forward to receiving your response to this request within 20 business days, as the statute requires.

Your request is being processed in accordance with procedural requirements promulgated in Department of Defense (DoD) Regulation 5400.7-R which is available on the internet at: http://www.defenselink.mil/pubs/foi. The actual processing time will depend upon its complexity, whether it involves sensitive records, voluminous records, extensive searches, consultation among DoD components or other agencies, and our administrative workload.
We have placed you in the "News Media" category for fee purposes, which means you are obligated to pay any duplication costs after the first 100 pages; however, depending on the size of the documents, we may provide the final release on CD or electronically and no charges would be applicable.
The USSOCOM FOIA Office has a substantial number of pending FOIA cases, therefore, we process requests in a multi-track processing system based on the date of receipt and the amount of work and time involved in processing each request. We estimate the time for completion to be approximately 6-9 months; it could be more or less.
