This is a request under the Freedom of Information Act. I hereby request the following records:
Documents, answers, and correspondence provided to Senator Markey as a result of his request for information concerning self-determined GRAS and GRAS status, as outlined in his letter, dated April 26th, 2016, to FDA Commissioner Califf: http://www.markey.senate.gov/imo/media/doc/GRAS_04%2026%202016.pdf
The requested documents will be made available to the general public, and this request is not being made for commercial purposes.
In the event that there are fees, I would be grateful if you would inform me of the total charges in advance of fulfilling my request. I would prefer the request filled electronically, by e-mail attachment if available or CD-ROM if not.
Thank you in advance for your anticipated cooperation in this matter. I look forward to receiving your response to this request within 20 business days, as the statute requires.

The Office of Legislation has advised the response to this inquiry has not been finalized.
You may appeal our no records determination. If you choose to appeal, your appeal must be in writing and must be received at the following address within 30 days of the date on this letter.

In lieu of an appeal for documents that have not been finalized, would it be possible to simply send me the documents in question (once they have been gathered and sent to Senator Markey)?

Mr. Roberts, we did a search for the letter you are requesting and the response has not been issued yet. I confirmed this on the day I provided you with the no records response.
You may submit a new request for this information, but I would advise you wait a couple weeks. Hopefully, the response will be finalized in the near future.
