MuckRock users can file, duplicate, track, and share public records requests like this one. Learn more.
To Whom It May Concern:
This is a request under the Freedom of Information Act. I hereby request the following records:
A copy of each weekly submission of significant FOIA activity sent from OIA to the DHS Privacy Office as required by The Chief Privacy Officer memo, February 9, 2005. Limit responsive records to those created on or after 10/1/2010.
I also request that, if appropriate, fees be waived as I believe this request is in the public interest. The requested documents will be made available to the general public free of charge as part of the public information service at MuckRock.com, processed by a representative of the news media/press and is made in the process of news gathering and not for commercial usage.
In the event that fees cannot be waived, I would be grateful if you would inform me of the total charges in advance of fulfilling my request. I would prefer the request filled electronically, by e-mail attachment if available or CD-ROM if not.
Thank you in advance for your anticipated cooperation in this matter. I look forward to receiving your response to this request within 20 business days, as the statute requires.
This is a follow-up to my voicemail message of January 3, 2011. We are in receipt of your two FOIA requests and were wondering if you would consider the following:
1. Combining your two requests; and
2. Amending the request for a copy of DHS Privacy Office’s Final significant FOIA activity reports from 10/1/2010 to the present.
Reports submitted to the Privacy Office by DHS components are in draft form, requesting the final report would provide more disclosure.
Your response to this email will be greatly appreciated. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me at (703) 235-0759.

Please process my requests as initially written. I am interested in what each individual unit considered significant, and would only accept a consolidated report if it includes every submitted report of significant FOIA activity.
Attached is our response to your request. If you need to contact this office again concerning your request, please provide the DHS reference number. This will enable us to quickly retrieve the information you are seeking and reduce our response time. This office can be reached at 866-431-0486.
