This is a request under the Freedom of Information Act. I hereby request the following records:
A copy of all complaints filed with the FCC against TV personality Bill O'Reilly and the O'Reilly Factor
I also request that, if appropriate, fees be waived as I believe this request is in the public interest. The requested documents will be made available to the general public free of charge as part of the public information service at MuckRock.com, processed by a representative of the news media/press and is made in the process of news gathering and not for commercial usage.
In the event that fees cannot be waived, I would be grateful if you would inform me of the total charges in advance of fulfilling my request. I would prefer the request filled electronically, by e-mail attachment if available or CD-ROM if not.
Thank you in advance for your anticipated cooperation in this matter. I look forward to receiving your response to this request within 20 business days, as the statute requires.

Per your recommendations to Shawn Musgrave at MuckRock.com, I am amending my FOIA request to FCC complaints received against Bill O'Reilly or the 'O'Reilly Factor' program from January 1, 2008 on, as well as documentation of any enforcement action taken pursuant to the complaints.
If possible, please send the complaints in a spreadsheet in an Excel file.

Hello Ms. Kang, our records only go back to January 1, 2008. Therefore, our search produced 444 complaint filed regarding Bill O'Reilly. Based on your classification as a representative of the new media, you are responsible only for the payment of duplication costs beyond the first 100 pages. The duplication cost to process your request is $34.41. We are unable to provide the records in an "Excel file" format due to files having to be redacted. If you agree with the cost to process your request, please let me know. Thanks.

Mr. Hennigan,
Thank you for your help with this request. I have seen the printouts sent for requests related to other shows, and it appears that they are from a database. The Federal Trade Commission has a similar database and sends a redacted spreadsheet in digital form. Is the FCC unable to do the same?
