-Events of the Lambda Gay-Straight Alliance and/or Tech Players;
-Tennessee Tech discipline or punishment imposed on, or interference with the events of, the Lambda Gay-Straight Alliance and/or Tech Players
The requested documents will be made available to the general public, and this request is not being made for commercial purposes.
In the event that there are fees, I would be grateful if you would inform me of the total charges in advance of fulfilling my request. I would prefer the request filled electronically, by e-mail attachment if available or CD-ROM if not.

Thank you for your December 2, 2022 response to my October 31 request for records under the Tennessee Public Records Act (Tenn. Code Ann. 10-7-503 et seq.). We appreciate your offer to narrow the request. Please see the following revised request:
Records Requested:
All written and electronic communications of Tennessee Technological University administrators or staff between September 7, 2022, and October 31, 2022, regarding:
1. Tennessee Tech student groups Lambda Gay-Straight Alliance and/or Tech Players; and
2. The August 20, 2022 Drag at the Backdoor event at the Backdoor Playhouse.
Fee waiver request: Please note that this request concerns a matter of public interest. The protection of First Amendment free speech rights at public universities, like Tennessee Tech, is of vital concern to the students, faculty, and administrators of that university, and to the greater academic community and the public at large. This request seeks records regarding Tennessee Tech’s ongoing punishment of students for exercising their First Amendment right to host an expressive campus event. The records are not sought for a commercial or personal interest, but rather for the purpose of providing the public with information concerning civil liberties in higher education.
If a fee waiver is not granted, please apprise me of the estimated cost of fulfilling the request.
Please note that this request does not seek a search of faculty or student email accounts or records.
