I am writing to request access to public records under Mississippi Public Records Act; Miss. Code Ann. 25-61-1 et seq. Specifically, I am seeking information regarding individuals currently sentenced with a habitual offender sentencing enhancement as outlined in Miss. Code Ann. § 99-19-81, 83.. Specifically, I am requesting details on individuals currently incarcerated for habitual offender laws, including their:
- Names
- Date of conviction
- Inmate ID
- Parole eligibility date
- Specific offenses they were convicted of
Any available demographic information, such as date of birth, age at arrest, current age, race, gender, county of conviction
If there are any fees associated with obtaining or copying these records that exceed $100, I request a waiver of all fees. I am making this request on behalf of a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, and the release of this information is in the public interest, significantly contributing to a better understanding of habitual offender laws. My request for this information is not for commercial purposes.
I kindly ask for a timely response to this request. If the retrieval of these records will take an extended period, please provide an estimated timeline for when I can expect access to or copies of the requested records.
