Pursuant to the Iowa Open Records Law (Code Chapter 22), I hereby request the following records:
Any emails sent or received by any employee of the Iowa Department of Corrections between the dates of September 11, 2016 and October 5, 2016 containing the keyword/hashtag "#NoDAPL".
The requested documents will be made available to the general public, and this request is not being made for commercial purposes.
In the event that there are fees, I would be grateful if you would inform me of the total charges in advance of fulfilling my request. I would prefer the request filled electronically, by e-mail attachment if available or CD-ROM if not.
Thank you in advance for your anticipated cooperation in this matter. I look forward to receiving your response to this request within 10 business days, as the statute requires.

There are over 2,000 emails within the Iowa DOC email system that reference, protest, protests, protestor or protestors within the time period requested. A review to determine the emails that are related to the Dakota Access Pipeline, plus any required redaction will take a considerable amount of staff time. The Iowa Department of Corrections costs, including, review, redacting and copy time is $15.00 per hour plus copy cost at .15 per page.
The other request containing hashtag and/or "#NoDAPL" has been completed and there are 28 emails that need to be reviewed.
Please advise if your agency is willing to pay the costs. If so, a cost amount will be provided. Once the payment is received, the Iowa DOC will proceed with processing your request.
