From: Ava Sasani

To Whom It May Concern:

Pursuant to the Illinois Freedom of Information Act., I hereby request the following records:

All grant reporting documents submitted to the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) between January 2017 and July 2019 about the Countering Violent Extremism (CVE) grant program.

Your organization was listed as by the DHS as a CVE grant recipient here:
https://www.dhs.gov/cvegrants

On the DHS web page listed above, there are quarterly summary updates that say your organization held “nine focus groups that have supported the training programs for young adults, educators, public health professionals, faith leaders, and local government staff.”

Regarding this and all related CVE programs, I would like all qualitative and quantitative impact reporting that you have sent to the DHS to update them on your progress towards reducing violent extremism, including any financial statements that specifically explain how your $187,877 CVE grant from the DHS (in 2017) has been spent. This should include at least one report for each quarter since 2017 explaining deliverables and progress.

The requested documents will be made available to the general public, and this request is not being made for commercial purposes.

In the event that there are fees, I would be grateful if you would inform me of the total charges in advance of fulfilling my request. I would prefer the request filled electronically, by e-mail attachment if available or CD-ROM if not.

Thank you in advance for your anticipated cooperation in this matter. I look forward to receiving your response to this request within 5 business days, as the statute requires.

Sincerely,

Ava Sasani
