Pursuant to the Colorado Open Records Act, I hereby request the following records:
A log of all calls and incidents reported to the Hate Crime Hotline, phone number 720-913-6458, from January 1, 2014 through the date this request is processed. Please include the time and date of the call, any available description of the phone call, and any action that was taken as a result. Please provide any available record numbers for audio information stored in relation to individual phone calls but not the audio files themselves. Please redact any personally-identifying information.
The requested documents will be made available to the general public, and this request is not being made for commercial purposes.
In the event that there are fees, I would be grateful if you would inform me of the total charges in advance of fulfilling my request. I would prefer the request filled electronically, by e-mail attachment if available or CD-ROM if not.
Thank you in advance for your anticipated cooperation in this matter. I look forward to receiving your response to this request within 3 business days, as the statute requires.

Good Morning,
Due to the holiday weekend closures, we did not receive your request until yesterday. Please note that records of the Denver Police Department are Criminal Justice Records which are subject to the provisions of the Colorado Criminal Justice Records Act (CCJRA) and not the Colorado Open Records Act (CORA). There is no 3 day requirement to respond within CCJRA.
We estimate that it will take 2 hours to retrieve, review and redact the records responsive to your request. We charge $30 per hour after the first hour, so estimate the costs involved in responding to your request to be $30. Please advise if you are willing to accept those costs and we will proceed.

Our general practice is to not charge the media for normal routine requests; however, when a request entails research and redaction beyond an hour, we charge.
