To Whom It May Concern:
Pursuant to the Maryland Public Information Act, I hereby request the following records:
1. Copies of any correspondence, of any form or via any method, which was sent to, received by, or sent by any current member of the Carroll County Public Schools Board of Education or the Superintendent which relates to the proposed flag policy or the distribution of flags, or which includes any of the following terms: (a) flag or flags; (b) pride; (c) LGBT or LGBTQ; (d) gay.
2. Copies of any calendar entries relating to any meeting or discussion concerning flags in which any current member of the Carroll County Public Schools Board of Education was a participant. If a video or other recording was made of that meeting, please provide a copy of the video. This request does not include regular meetings of the Board of Education.
3. Copies of any draft of the "flag policy" other than the May 11, 2022 draft.
4. Copies of any public records request and any records produced in response to that request.
Please note that this request seeks public records whether sent, received, or stored on a device, service, or system owned by the Carroll County Public Schools or on a device, service, or system owned or used by the individual member. Please also note that "correspondence" expressly includes, but not is not limited to: emails, text messages, SMS messages, Facebook messages, Twitter direct messages, Signal messages, Whatsapp messages, Telegram messages, iMessage messages, Discord messages, or other forms of communication. If a message contains an attachment, please include a copy of the attachment in its native format. Finally, this request should not be interpreted to require a search of records of the student representative on the Board of Education.
This request is limited to records generated on October 1, 2021 through the present date.
The requested documents will be made available to the general public, and this request is not being made for commercial purposes.
In the event that there are fees, I would be grateful if you would inform me of the total charges in advance of fulfilling my request. I would prefer the request filled electronically, by e-mail attachment if available or CD-ROM if not.
Thank you in advance for your anticipated cooperation in this matter. I look forward to receiving your response to this request within 10 calendar days, as the statute requires.
