Pursuant to the Maryland Public Information Act, I hereby request the following records:
Detention records for any adults booked, incarcerated, or received at any jail or detention facility in Baltimore County pre-conviction or post-conviction at any point within the following three time periods:
- 10/01/2018-11/15/2018
- 10/01/2020-11/15/2020
- 10/01/2022-11/15/2022
For each record, I specifically request the following data (as available):
- Full name and alias(es)
- Birthdate
- Race/ethnicity (as available)
- Sex
- Booking number
- State or other identification numbers
- Facility (or facilities if multiple)
- Arresting agency
- Received date/time
- Release date/time
- Type of release (eg bail, ROR, etc)
- Last known address
- Initial charge description
- Initial charge statute
- Charging agency
- Final charge statute (if available)
- Court case number(s)
- Bail information
- Custody status (e.g., pretrial, sentenced, etc)
- Any other relevant case/charge information
I recognize that some of these data points may not available for some or all records, so please identify which are not available. Additionally, for those individuals who have multiple custody stints within the three periods, I request records for each custody stint. If any part of this request is unclear or I could provide additional information, please contact me.
The requested records are for academic research purposes.
The requested documents will be made available to the general public, and this request is not being made for commercial purposes.
In the event that there are fees, I would be grateful if you would inform me of the total charges in advance of fulfilling my request. I would prefer the request filled electronically, by e-mail attachment if available or CD-ROM if not.
Thank you in advance for your anticipated cooperation in this matter. I look forward to receiving your response to this request within 10 calendar days, as the statute requires.

This is an acknowledgement of your request below, for public information, received by the Department of Corrections, on December 6, 2023. Your request is governed by the Maryland Public Information Act ("PIA"), Maryland Code, General Provisions Article ("GP"), ยงยง 4-101 et seq.
The Department of Corrections makes every effort to fulfill PIA requests promptly and within the statutory deadline. However, our response will exceed ten (10) business days. This is as a result of the scope of request, type and volume of potentially responsive records, nature of search, review and preparation. This response is in reference to the MPIA Request # 23-1125 that was received by the Department on December 6, 2023:
As of today, December 21, 2023, the exact delivery date of the potential responsive records is not known at this time.
