Next Monday, we’ll be co-hosting a free public records workshop with Emerson College and the Boston Institute for Nonprofit Journalism in Cambridge, Massachusetts. Join us for the free event, whether you’re interested in learning government transparency basics or hoping to find new tactics for freeing documents.

The event will begin at 6 p.m. at the Democracy Center, located at 45 Mt Auburn St, Cambridge, MA 02138, right off Harvard Square. The event is completely free of charge and open to everyone interested in learning how public records can shed light on local government and what’s going on in their community.

Topics covered will include:

  • Filing your first public records requests.
  • Strategies and resources when a request is denied.
  • Public data sets you can explore without having to file.
  • How to get ideas for what to ask for about topics you care about.

We’ll also have FOIA stickers, swag, and signed copies of our book available.
