Pursuant to the Wisconsin Open Records Act, I hereby request the following records:

Records that contain information on how many specialty "Choose Life" license plates were sold from 1997 onwards.

The requested documents will be made available to the general public, and this request is not being made for commercial purposes.

In the event that there are fees, I would be grateful if you would inform me of the total charges in advance of fulfilling my request. I would prefer the request filled electronically, by e-mail attachment if available or CD-ROM if not.

Hello Ms. Farkus,

As the supervisor of Wisconsin DVM's "Plate Room" I was asked to respond to your record request. The Choose Life plate first became available to the public in October of 2017. Since then there have been 1,135 plates issued. As of 2/5/19 there are 1,062 Choose Life plates carrying valid registration.

If you would like to compare those numbers to other plate types WI DMV produces an annual "Facts and Figures<https://wisconsindot.gov/Pages/about-wisdot/newsroom/statistics/fact-fig/fact-fig.aspx>" document that covers a wide range of information that DMV is often asked about. Within the "Vehicles" heading you can select the "License plates issued<https://wisconsindot.gov/Documents/about-wisdot/newsroom/statistics/factsfig/lpissue.pdf>" link. It will be updated with 2018 soon but the count for the Choose Life plate in 2018 is 839.
