Pursuant to Florida's Sunshine Law (Fla. Stat. secs. 119.01 to 119.15 (1995)), I hereby request the following records:

Please provide copies of all reports in regards to the recent data breach and loss of employee W-2 information that occurred on or around February 10, 2017.

The requested documents will be made available to the general public, and this request is not being made for commercial purposes.

In the event that there are fees, I would be grateful if you would inform me of the total charges in advance of fulfilling my request. I would prefer the request filled electronically, by e-mail attachment if available or CD-ROM if not.

I write in my capacity as Superintendent A. Russell Hughes' designee for responding to public records requests directed to the School Board and in response to your April 5, 2017 public records request made to the Walton County School District.

As a threshold matter, public records requests directed to any elected member of the School Board are directed to the Board as a corporate legal entity. Sections 1001.30, 1001.40, Florida Statutes (2016). Superintendent Hughes serves as the Secretary and Executive Officer of the School Board. Sections 1001.32-.33, Florida Statutes (2016). By law, the Superintendent is the custodian of records for the School Board. Section 1001.51(3), Florida Statutes (2016). The Superintendent is authorized to establish a designee for responding to public records requests. Section 119.011(5), Florida Statutes (2016).

The Public Records Request indicated that you be provided a copy of the following public record:

Please provide copies of all reports in regards to the recent data breach and loss of employee W-2 information that occurred on or around February 10, 2017.
Staff has been requested to compile the responsive records. Upon receipt of the records, should a fee for the records be assessed, you will be notified of the cost of production.
