Good afternoon,

We are seeking clarification on your request.  Are you seeking settlement information related to civil rights/use of force incidents only or are you interested in traffic collision information as well?

Thank you,
David Dickey

Dear
Ms. Lipton:

We have received your California
Public Records Act request dated July 20, 2020.
An additional fourteen days will be needed beyond the statutory ten days
to respond to your request.  California
Government Code §6253(c).  The additional
fourteen days is necessary due to:

- The need to search for and collect the
requested records from field facilities or other establishments that are
separate from the office processing the request.

- The need to search for, collect, and
appropriately examine a voluminous amount of separate and distinct records that
are demanded in a single request.

-The need for consultation with another
agency having substantial interest in the determination of the request or among
two or more components of our City having substantial subject matter interest
therein.
- The need to compile data, to write
programming language or a computer program, or to construct a computer report
to extract data.

The additional fourteen days is also necessary because
the “COVID-19 situation has resulted in a local and national state of
emergency and related staffing issues due to the temporary closure of all City
facilities and increased workloads necessary to deal with COVID-19 related
matters, thus affecting our ability to respond to your request within the
initial ten-day period.  The City greatly
appreciates your patience and understanding with respect to this matter.

The response
date is therefore now August 13, 2020.

Thank you for your attention to
the above.  If you have any questions, please
do not hesitate to contact me.

Sincerely,

David Dickey
Assistant Chief
of Police

Hello Mr. Dickey,

Thank you so much for your help. I apologize for having missed your call. I just tried to call back; I left a message, but I'm not sure that it was recorded, as I attempted to leave it multiple times and the machine seemed to be under the impression that I wasn't speaking. I think this chart should be sufficient for now, but I'll be sure to follow up if I have any more questions or issues.

Thanks, again, for your help. I really appreciate it.

All the best,
Beryl
