From: Dave Maass

To Whom It May Concern:

Pursuant to the Government Records Access and Management Act, I hereby request the following records:

- A list of all agencies that participate in the automated license plate reader program.

Note: We are attempting to update the data made available in 2012 (https://le.utah.gov/interim/2012/pdf/00003252.pdf). We do not know what form these records manifest on your end, so any guidance on how to focus the request would be useful. Thank you.

The requested documents will be made available to the general public, and this request is not being made for commercial purposes.

In the event that there are fees, I would be grateful if you would inform me of the total charges in advance of fulfilling my request. I would prefer the request filled electronically, by e-mail attachment if available or CD-ROM if not.

Thank you in advance for your anticipated cooperation in this matter. I look forward to receiving your response to this request within 10 business days, as the statute requires.

Sincerely,

Dave Maass

Dear Dave Maass,

I have received your request for a list of all agencies that participate in
the automated license plate reader program.

The Utah State Tax Commission is no longer the administrator of
this program, that was turned over to Highway Patrol who falls under the
Department of Public Safety. Their website address is
https://publicsafety.utah.gov/. You will need to contact them for that
information.

Thank you and have a great day!

Hi Alyssa,

I think I'd like to file another request to get a little more information about the ALPR program. Do you have any recommendations for documents to ask for as to keep the request fairly narrow and manageable. I'm just looking for a little context on what it means to participate in the program.

From: Utah Department of Public Safety

It would probably be best to submit a new request asking for the records
sought. The original request was closed out.

You can submit a new request by going to our website under the media tab.
In the description for records sought, just state that you were given a
list of agencies that participate, but would like to know what it means to
participate in the program and that you are hoping to keep the request
narrow.

Thanks!
Alyssa
