Dear Mr. Von Struckmann:

Thank you for submitting your Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request to
the National Archives and Records Administration (NARA) via the *FOIAonline*
website. We received your request on May 3, 2021. Your request concerns war
crimes trial records and any Army, CIC or OSS records concerning
SS-Gruppenführer
Jakob Sporrenberg. You also requested photos.

Our office uses the *FOIAonline* portal for FOIA and Privacy Act requests
for the National Archives and Records Administration's *operational *records

*FOIAOnline*, we removed your request from the *FOIAOnline* website.
Textual Reference and Still Pictures will each assign your request a new

Dear Tino Von Struckmann,

I am writing in response to your Freedom of Information Act request
submitted on May 4, 2021 and forwarded to my office on the same day. Your
request has been assigned FOIA Request Number 21-31456. The records
requested included any photographs related to SS-Gruppenfuhrer Jakob
Sporrenberg. Your request was also forwarded to our Textual Records
Division who will reply separately.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic and pursuant to guidance received from the
Office of Management and Budget (OMB), NARA has adjusted its normal
operations to balance the need of completing its mission-critical work
while also adhering to the recommended social distancing for the safety of
our staff. Because of this, our office is not able to process FOIA requests
according to our normal procedures. When we resume normal operations, we
will respond to requests in the order they were received.

Dear Tino Von Struckmann,

I am writing in further response to your Freedom of Information Act request
sent on May 4, 2021 for records in the custody of the National Archives and
Records Administration. Your request was received in this office on May 4,
2021 and assigned FOIA Case Number 21-31456.

Your request indicated that you are interested in photographs of
SS-Gruppenführer
Jakob Sporrenberg. We conducted searches within the Records of the Office
of the Chief Signal Officer (RG 111), the National Archives Collection of
Foreign Records Seized (RG 242), and Records of the Army Staff (RG
319). Unfortunately,
we were unable to locate any images of Jakob Sporrenberg.

If you have not already done so, you may want to reach out to the Central
Military Archives in Warsaw, Poland. Sporrenberg was convicted of war
crimes by a Polish court, so it is possible that records related to
Sporrenberg are located in Poland.

This completes the processing of your request. If you have any questions, the
Still Picture Reference Team will be happy to assist you. Written
inquiries may be directed to the Still Picture Reference Team, RDSS, Room
5360, National Archives and Records Administration, 8601 Adelphi Road,
College Park, Maryland 20740-6001. Our phone number is 301-837-0561
<(301)%20837-0561> and fax 301-837-3621 <(301)%20837-3621>. We can also be
reached by e-mail at stillpix@nara.gov.

We do not consider this a denial of your FOIA request. However, if you are
not satisfied with our action on this request, your options for appeal and
dispute resolution are outlined in the attached document.

Sincerely,

William Wade

Dear Tino Von Struckmann,

I am writing in further response to your Freedom of Information Act request
sent on April 30, 2021 for records in the custody of the National Archives
and Records Administration. Your request was received in this office on
May 28, 2021 and assigned FOIA Case Number 21-36294.

Your request indicated that you are interested in photographs related to
General Patton's 3rd Army, including German prisoners taken by the 3rd
Army, between March 1945 and April 1945. We conducted searches within
the Records
of the Office of the Chief Signal Officer (RG 111) and have located
photographs that may be of interest to your research.

As a courtesy, we have provided 8 examples of the types of photographs that
are
available, which are attached to this email. The files have been named
using our local photo ID numbers and the captions have been provided.
Unfortunately, due to staffing limitations and COVID restrictions, we are
unable to provide copies of all of the available photographs.

It is also important to note that, while we do have many photographs of
Patton's Third Army, the majority of our photographs are indexed under the
division and/or regiment attached to the Third Army. If you are looking for
something more specific than what has already been provided, when we reopen
you may want to submit a search request with individual regiments and
divisions listed. We can also search under the locations where the Third
Army was located.

This completes the processing of your request. If you have any
questions, the Still Picture Reference Team will be happy to assist you.
Written inquiries may be directed to the Still Picture Reference Team,
RDSS, Room 5360, National Archives and Records Administration, 8601 Adelphi
Road, College Park, Maryland 20740-6001.

Dear Tino Von Struckmann,
We received two separate FOIA requests from you. One relating to
SS-Gruppenfuhrer Jakob Sporrenberg (FOIA Request Number 21-31456) and
another to Patton's 3rd Army and German Prisoners (FOIA Request Number
21-36294). The photographs we emailed are related to the latter request. We
did not find any photographs relating to Jakob Sporrenberg. My office is
only responsible for photographs, so that's all we responded to. Your
requests were also forwarded to our Textual Records Division, who hold our
paper records. They will respond separately.
