To Whom It May Concern:

Pursuant to the Freedom of Information Act, I hereby request the following records:

A copy of records reflecting all disciplinary actions occurring between Jan. 1, 2020 and June 30, 2020 within United States Naval Special Warfare Command (and all subordinate units) including UPBs, 6105 entries, summary courts-martial records of trial, and/or other associated disciplinary records. I am preemptively waiving any objection to the redaction of the names of any U.S. Government officials below a GS-14 position or who otherwise were not acting in a supervisory position. I similarly waive any objection to redactions of the names of any U.S. Government contractors in a position of authority similar to that of a GS-13 series civilian employee or below.

The requested documents will be made available to the general public, and this request is not being made for commercial purposes.

In the event that there are fees, I would be grateful if you would inform me of the total charges in advance of fulfilling my request. I would prefer the request filled electronically, by e-mail attachment if available or CD-ROM if not.

Thank you in advance for your anticipated cooperation in this matter. I look forward to receiving your response to this request within 20 business days, as the statute requires.

Sincerely,

Paul Szoldra, Task & Purpose

Mr. Sozlra,

After reviewing your FOIA request to NAVSPECWARCOM FOIA office No. 20-248
(DON-NAVY-2020-012358), we would like to work with you to narrow the request
in order to search for the specific records you are seeking. The request
encompasses "records reflecting all disciplinary actions occurring between
Jan. 1, 2020 and June 30, 2020 within United States Naval Special Warfare
Command (and all subordinate units) including UPBs, 6105 entries, summary
courts-martial records of trial, and/or other associated disciplinary
records." rendering the amount of documents and information being sought a
complex request, due to the multiple layers of command, and consultations
your request will have to process through. It is also potentially
voluminous. This office would like to work with you to narrow down the
search terms for your request if at all possible.

Accordingly, this command requested you narrow your request with enough
specificity so this office can assist in providing you a substantive
response. Please if you could indicate what specific "disciplinary action"
records you are seeking, if you have exact dates, names of members that
committed/were investigated for the alleged misconduct, or if you are only
seeking a list of records related to the alleged misconducts/investigations.

Standing by for questions.

Hi,

I'm happy to work with you on narrowing the scope. What can be removed here that would keep this request on the simple track?

"records reflecting all disciplinary actions occurring between
Jan. 1, 2020 and June 30, 2020 within United States Naval Special Warfare
Command (and all subordinate units) including UPBs, 6105 entries, summary
courts-martial records of trial, and/or other associated disciplinary
records."

Is it the date range? Or is it the different types of documents?

Two potential options: I can modify to ask for a smaller date range, like say, only January 2020, with all these records. Or, I could keep this date range but only ask for UPBs and 6105 entries. Would either of these two options help?

Happy to talk about this over the phone. I can be reached at 347-867-8859.

Thank you.
