To Whom It May Concern:

Pursuant to the Freedom of Information Act, I hereby request the following records:

Pursuant to the Freedom of Information Act (5 U.S.C. § 552), I am requesting access to and copies of all legal memos, assessments, advisories, opinions, or requests related to the concept of minting a trillion-dollar coin. I am interested in records produced during 2023.

Specifically, I am seeking documents or records that:

-Discuss the legal feasibility and implications of creating such a coin.
-Detail any legal inquiries, evaluations, or assessments pertaining to the minting of a trillion-dollar coin.
-Include any communication or correspondence discussing this topic, internally within the Department of Justice, and externally with other government agencies or private entities.

Additionally, I am seeking any documents produced for other FOIA inquiries about the trillion dollar coin within the last 10 years - please release these as soon as possible and on a rolling basis.

These will be used in the course of reporting for Motherboard, VICE Media's science and technology site (www.motherboard.vice.com)

I understand that a search and duplication fee may apply. If the cost exceeds $25, please contact me before proceeding. If my request is too broad or does not reasonably describe the records, please let me know and I will provide more detail.

As the information sought concerns a matter of public interest, I would like to request a waiver of all fees, in accordance with 5 U.S.C. § 552(a)(4)(A)(iii). This information is not sought for commercial purposes, and the release of these documents would contribute significantly to public understanding of the government operations and activities.

In the event that there are fees, please inform me of the total charges in advance of fulfilling my request. If my request is denied in whole or part, I ask that you justify all deletions by reference to specific exemptions of the act. I expect the request to be filled within 20 business days, as stipulated by the Act.

The requested documents will be made available to the general public, and this request is not being made for commercial purposes.

In the event that there are fees, I would be grateful if you would inform me of the total charges in advance of fulfilling my request. I would prefer the request filled electronically, by e-mail attachment if available or CD-ROM if not.

Thank you in advance for your anticipated cooperation in this matter. I look forward to receiving your response to this request within 20 business days, as the statute requires.

Sincerely,

Jason Koebler
