From: Susan Maret
To Whom It May Concern:
Pursuant to the Freedom of Information Act, I hereby request the following records:
Under the provisions of the Freedom of Information Act 5 U.S.C. § 552, I request any and all records in whole or in part on the briefing by the UK-based Center for Countering Digital Hate (CCDH) to the office of the Surgeon General of the United States. This request is based on page 30 of the July 4, 2023 decision State of Missouri et al v. Joseph R. Biden Jr. et al (the “Doughty Decision”), which states: “[Eric] Waldo and the Office of the Surgeon General received a briefing from the Center for Countering Digital Hate (“CCDH") about the 'Disinformation Dozen.' CCDH gave a presentation about the Disinformation Dozen and how CCDH measured and determined that the Disinformation Dozen were primarily responsible for a. significant amount of online misinformation.”
I believe this briefing may have taken place in 2021.
I respectfully request a waiver of all fees under 5 U.S.C. Section 552(a) (4) (A) (iii). As an academic researcher, I will actively share and provide access to these records with the public and my colleagues. Release of these materials is in the public interest, and will greatly contribute to public knowledge of U.S. governmental activities and formation of policy. Release of this records is not primarily in my commercial interest.
I am happy to receive any and all records in electronic format. Please note that 5 U.S.C. Section 552(a) (4) (A) (iv) (II) requires that you provide the first 100 copies to me at no charge.
The requested documents will be made available to the general public, and this request is not being made for commercial purposes.
In the event that there are fees, I would be grateful if you would inform me of the total charges in advance of fulfilling my request. I would prefer the request filled electronically, by e-mail attachment if available or CD-ROM if not.
Thank you in advance for your anticipated cooperation in this matter. I look forward to receiving your response to this request within 20 business days, as the statute requires.
Sincerely,
Susan Maret
