This is a status update pertaining to your October 08, 2012, Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request, Log no. 13-00007.

OIG has a backlog of FOIA requests, and we process requests on a first-in, first-out basis using “multi-tracks.” There are four tracks: an expedited track, if the request qualifies; a simple track for relatively simple requests; a complex track for more complex and lengthy requests; and a remanded track, when a FOIA appeal is granted. Your request is in the complex track.

The OIG FOIA staff is the office responsible for processing FOIA requests for OIG, and as the processing office, we do not maintain the documents. Therefore, it is necessary to search for and collect the documents you requested from regional and other offices in OIG.

Actual processing of a request this voluminous and time consuming may actually take many months longer than the estimated completion date stated below. We have a backlog of FOIA requests and this request is currently in the queue and will be processed in turn according with our procedures.

FOIA staff currently estimates that we will complete your request in mid-September 2013.

If you have any questions regarding your request, please contact the FOIA staff by email or phone (202) 720-5677.
