Subject: Request for Declassification and Release of CIA Records and Cable Communications Pertaining to the Death of Ahmed Abdi Godane
Under the Freedom of Information Act (5 U.S.C. § 552), I request the release and, where necessary, declassification of records and cable communications held by the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) related to the operation resulting in Ahmed Abdi Godane’s death, approximately during August to September 2014, in or near Barawe, Somalia.
I specifically seek:
1. Intelligence Assessments: Reports on Ahmed Abdi Godane and the operation.
2. Aerial Surveillance: Footage from CIA assets.
3. Operational Communications: Briefings and communications involving CIA personnel on the planning and execution.
4. After-action Analysis: Reports, analyses, or reviews on the operation’s effectiveness and outcomes.
5. Interagency Correspondence: Communications between the CIA and other U.S. intelligence or defense agencies.
6. Cable Files: Diplomatic cables or secure communications related to the operation, Godane, or Al-Shabaab.
