Dear T. McElwee,

Thank you for your recent FOIA requests. I'm working on part of the
initial search, and I have a few follow-up questions.

When we search for records, are you interested in receiving correspondence
sent to the White House by members of the general public? Also, are you
interested in receiving newspaper articles, press releases, or other
publicly released material? Many of the publicly released materials and
press releases can be found online at
http://georgewbush-whitehouse.archives.gov/ under the 'News' section.

If you would like to talk to me about the search, or if you need
clarification on my questions, you can contact me at sarah.quick@nara.gov.

Sincerely,

Sarah Quick

Ms. Quick,

Thank you for your reply. I would be interested in receiving correspondence sent to the White House, where it mentions the named parties (Giuliani Partners, Giuliani-Kerik LLC, or Bernard Kerik).

This request should be construed to exclude mentions of Rudolph Giuliani where it is not in reference to Giuliani Partners, Giuliani-Kerik, or Bernard Kerik.

I am most interested in documents regarding the short-listing, vetting and appointment of Bernard Kerik for his role in Iraq and his consideration and vetting for the position of Secretary for Homeland Security. Records of any referral of his name for consideration, including the process of granting him clearance and access privileges, are most appreciated.

If this is in any way simplifies the task, the time period of interest is calendar years 2002 through 2005.
