Good morning,

FOIA request has been received in the office for processing and assigned case number 2014-TSFO-00259. Our office has received a high volume of requests which has resulted in a backlog. It is TSA’s practice to assign requests into one of two tracks based on the complexity of the request and to process cases within the two tracks on a first-in, first-out basis. Your request has been assigned to the simple track. At this time we anticipate an additional six months if simple track to complete the processing of your request. If you are interested in narrowing the scope of your request to reduce the processing time, we are available to discuss this with you, either by email to this address or by telephone at 1-866-364-2872. Thank you for your patience in this matter.

Dear Ms. Sundvik:
This letter is in response to your July 5, 2015, Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request to
U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) all briefs, emails, records, and any other documents
On or about, mentioning, or concerning the "Automated Targeting system", created and/or Modified after January 2011.
After a careful review of your FOIA request, we determined that your request is too broad in scope or did not specifically identify the records which you are seeking. Records must be described in reasonably sufficient detail to enable government employees who are familiar with the subject area to locate records without placing an unreasonable burden upon the agency. Per Title 6 C.F.R. § 5.3 (b) of the DHS regulations, require that you describe the records you are seeking with as much information as possible to ensure that our search can locate them with a reasonable amount of effort. Whenever possible a request should include specific information about each record, if known, or the DHS component or office you believe created and/or controls the records. The FOIA does not require an agency to create new records, answer questions posed by requesters, or attempt to interpret a request that does not identify specific records.
If we do not hear from you within 10 days from the date of this letter, we will assume you are no longer interested in this FOIA request and the case will be administratively closed. Please be advised that this action is not a denial of your request and will not preclude you from filing other request in the future.
Your request has been assigned reference number 2014-026018. Please refer to this identifier in any future correspondence related to this request. You may contact this Office at 202-325-0150.
