This letter is in response to your request for informationpursuant to the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. § 552, dated October 25, 2023 and received in Department of Education, Office for Civil Rights, Seattle office on October 26, 2023.
Yourequested the following: Pursuant to the Freedom of Information Act, I hereby request the following records:Please provide any documents responsive to request #16-01892-F, received on July 8, 2016.The subject of the initial request is copied below:complaint filed by (b)(6) against the Portland Public School District for racial discrimination.
We are unable to process your request at this time, becauseyour request does not reasonably describe the records that you have soughtunder the FOIA 5 U.S.C. § 552(a)(3)(A). In order to process your request, we need clarification of theinformation that you requested. Theinformation needed is as follows:

* We need additional information to identify the complaint in question, such as the OCR reference number, date filed, or which Portland Public School District (e.g., state), the name of the school, etc. Please be aware that putting in the name of an individual, such as the complainant or aggrieved student, will result an a denial pursuant to 5 U.S.C. § 552(b)(6), commonly known as a GLOMAR response.
Once we receive the information, we will search for documents responsive to yourrequest. If you haven’t responded tothis letter by November 30, 2023, your request will beadministratively closed.
