From: Nathan Lawrence

To Whom It May Concern:

Pursuant to the Freedom of Information Act, I hereby request the following records:

Any and all documents related to the procurement, manufacture, installation, or upkeep of a device placed in White House offices to activate ICBM or other nuclear strike that may casually be referred to as a "nuclear button," as referenced in President Trump's 2 Jan, 2018 tweet:

"North Korean Leader Kim Jong Un just stated that the 'Nuclear Button is on his desk at all times.' Will someone from his depleted and food starved regime please inform him that I too have a Nuclear Button, but it is a much bigger & more powerful one than his, and my Button works!"

Please note that this button appears to be distinct from the Nuclear football/Presidential Emergency Satchel and Gold codes. If I am mistaken in this understanding, I look forward to your correction.

The requested documents will be made available to the general public, and this request is not being made for commercial purposes.

In the event that there are fees, I would be grateful if you would inform me of the total charges in advance of fulfilling my request. I would prefer the request filled electronically, by e-mail attachment if available or CD-ROM if not.

Thank you in advance for your anticipated cooperation in this matter. I look forward to receiving your response to this request within 20 business days, as the statute requires.

Sincerely,

Nathan Lawrence

From: Joint Chiefs of Staff
