To Whom It May Concern:

Pursuant to the Freedom of Information Act, I hereby request the following records:

Copies of all National Park Service contracts with the Aramark Corporation for Fiscal Year 2018.

I am a reporter with Pacific Standard magazine, and the requested documents will be made available to the general public. This request is not being made for commercial purposes.

In the event that there are fees, I would be grateful if you would inform me of the total charges in advance of fulfilling my request. I would prefer the request filled electronically, by e-mail attachment if available or CD-ROM if not.

Thank you in advance for your anticipated cooperation in this matter. I look forward to receiving your response to this request within 20 business days, as the statute requires.

Sincerely,

Jimmy Tobias

From: National Park Service

Mr. Tobias,

In accordance with 43 CFR 2.5(a), a requester must describe the records in
sufficient detail to enable an employee familiar with the subject area of
the request to locate responsive records with a reasonable amount of
effort. Your request does not meet this requirement. Because of the
nature of your request, we are unable to determine exactly what records you
are requesting. It is not clear what you mean when you say want contracts
for 2018. Are you seeking copies of contracts that have been awarded to
Aramark during the period of January 1, 2018 to the present? Are you
seeking copies of contracts with Aramark that are currently in effect
during FY 2018?

Please be as specific as possible concerning the type of documents you are
requesting. If you know, please include the date, title or name, author,
recipient, and subject matter of the records you are seeking. Additionally,
please identify the geographical location and timeframe for which you are
seeking records. It is unclear whether your request covers only records in
the bureau’s headquarters or in its field offices as well.

We will be unable to proceed further with your request until we receive
additional clarification from you. In accordance with our regulations (43
CFR 2.51), if we do not hear from you within 20 workdays of the date of
this letter, we will assume you are no longer interested in this matter and
will close the file on your request

Sincerely,

C.

Mr. Tobias,

I apologize for the delay in response, your request has been received and
has been assigned tracking number NPS-2018-00604. All future
correspondence relating to this request should reference this tracking

Because we will need to search for, collect, and examine a potentially
voluminous amount of separate and distinct records that are demanded in a
single request, we are taking a 10-workday extension under 43 C.F.R. §
2.19.

In accordance with 43 CFR 2.15
<http://www.ecfr.gov/cgi-bin/text-idx?c=ecfr&sid=0fc3ab3499768eebc2e3691c8cf88dec&rgn=div5&view=text&node=43:1.1.1.1.2&idno=43#se43.1.2_115>
the
National Park Service processes requests on a first-in, first-out basis
within several processing tracks. Your request has been placed in the
