Communications

From: CJ Ciaramella

To Whom It May Concern:

Pursuant to the Freedom of Information Act, I hereby request the following records:

- Any communications, memos, or summaries of communications between former Attorney General Loretta Lynch, or Lynch's aide James McGovern, and the New York City Civilian Complaint Review Board regarding the investigation into the killing of Eric Garner by NYPD officer Daniel Pantaleo. For the purposes of this request, please limit the time frame to between Jan. 1, 2015 and Dec. 31, 2015.
- Any communications or records between Lynch or McGovern and the NYPD regarding the above-referenced matter and time frame.

For background, the New York City Mayor's Office claims that A.G. Lynch and McGovern both requested that New York City delay initiating disciplinary proceedings against Pantaleo until the Justice Department completed its civil rights probe of Garner's killing: https://twitter.com/chayesmatthew/status/1157366481711239169

I therefore request any records related to those requests.

The requested documents will be made available to the general public, and this request is not being made for commercial purposes.

In the event that there are fees, I would be grateful if you would inform me of the total charges in advance of fulfilling my request. I would prefer the request filled electronically, by e-mail attachment if available or CD-ROM if not.

Thank you in advance for your anticipated cooperation in this matter. I look forward to receiving your response to this request within 20 business days, as the statute requires.

Sincerely,

CJ Ciaramella
