Greetings NNSA FOIA official,

Pursuant to the Freedom of Information Act, I hereby request the following records:

The LANL video entitled “The Centurion / Halite Program”, which I believe may be numbered “2005-085”. The title may also use the spelling “Halilte“.

The requested documents will be made available to the general public, and this request is not being made for commercial purposes.

I am willing to pay applicable fees, however I ask that you contact me before proceeding if fees will exceed $50.

Depending on what format the record is currently stored in, I would prefer the request filled in high definition digital format. Given that this is a video record, I would love to discuss the logistics of this, and figure out exactly how we might go about delivery and what have you early in the process.

Thank you in advance for your help.

Sincerely,

Joseph Durso

Good Morning Mr. Durso,
I just received a response back from the site office doing the search on your FOIA. According to Lab Counsel there is indication that the responsive documents are classified and will need to be forwarded to the office of classification. The responsive documents are currently with the Site Office Classification Analyst undergoing the initial review.

I’ll keep you posted on any updates as they come along.

Thank you,

Ms. Del Rio,

Hope you've been well. Just a quick follow up on FOIA #20-00086-DD. Still in the classification review pipeline, I presume?

Thank you,

Joseph Durso

Hello Mr. Durso,

I checked with the site office upon receiving your email this morning. Your case is still with the classification team. Due to COVID-19 there is limited staffing at the labs and those staff are being dedicated to critical Lab operations. Your case is still being worked on, it’s just taking longer than expected.

I will update you as soon as I get any information or a timeframe of when this is expected to be completed.

Thank you,

Hello Mr. Durso,

I have recently taken over management of a number of FOIA requests after one of our analysts departed the NNSA FOIA office. Your request, FOIA 20-00086-DD, is one such case.

Due to the events surrounding COVID-19, the agency is continuing to work with an extremely limited staff. Field offices, laboratories, and other program offices are performing mission critical work on an extremely reduced workforce. Furthermore, many of our records are located off site and require in-person handling. Because of these circumstances, we have been reviewing cases to ensure that all of our efforts are focused on those cases that are still needed for processing. I am reaching out to you today to see if you are still interested in or in need of FOIA 20-00086-DD. Please inform me of your interest by January 9, 2022. If we do not hear from you by this date, we will assume you are no longer interested and will close your case as a result. Again, we thank you for your continued patience during these unprecedented times.

Respectfully,

Hello Ms. Bright,

Regarding FOIA 20-00086-DD, thank you for the update. Yes, I am still interested in this request. I appreciate that there are challenges processing these in light of the current circumstances. I'm perfectly happy to be patient but let's keep this request in the pipeline. I presume it's still in the queue for review when it is possible for that to occur?

All the best,

Joe Durso
