All emails and corresponding attachments sent to the alternate email address of KGS2@hhs.gov that was used by Secretary Sebelius that contain any of the following keywords in the subject line or in the body of the email or in the text of any attachment: "Wuhan", "WIV", "Wuhan Institute of Virology", "Chinese Academy of Sciences"

Please consider this as a request for a comprehensive search of the hidden KGS2@hhs.gov email address for any and all material that mentions Wuhan.

Thank you for your commitment to transparency, and I look forward to working with you on this request.

The requested documents will be made available to the general public, and this request is not being made for commercial purposes.

In the event that there are fees, I would be grateful if you would inform me of the total charges in advance of fulfilling my request. I would prefer the request filled electronically, by e-mail attachment if available or CD-ROM if not.

Dear Kaira Wells-

Hello! This email is addressed to Kaira Wells, and is in regards to a FOIA request that I filed on May 5th of 2021. On May 5th 2021, I filed a FOIA request for:

All emails and corresponding attachments sent to the alternate email address of KGS2@hhs.gov that was used by Secretary Sebelius that contain any of the following keywords in the subject line or in the body of the email or in the text of any attachment: "Wuhan", "WIV", "Wuhan Institute of Virology", "Chinese Academy of Sciences"

On May 18th, a clarification letter was sent to me, and it was indicated that the current status of this request is "On Hold - Need Info/Clarification."

The letter from HHS stated that providing further information (if possible) would  help to keep this FOIA request active. 

The four areas were expanded information was requested include:
1. The Agencies, Offices, or Individuals Involved 
2. The approximate date(s) when the records were created 
3. The subject title or description of the record sought 
4. Author, recipient, case number, file designation, or other reference number, if available

Please accept this information as an expansion on the requested information:
1. The email address of KGS2@hhs.gov used by the office of Secretary of HHS Kathleen Sebelius to include emails written by her or others authorized to send emails using the address of KGS2@hhs.gov on her behalf. 

2. Records created between April 28th 2009 and June 4th 2013. Please exclude records after the news reports of this specific email address appeared in June 2013:

Emails to or from KGS2@hhs.gov where the term “Chinese Academy of Sciences” appears in the subject line or body of any emails sent between April 28th 2009 and June 4th 2013.

3. Please conduct a search for documents (emails, related attachments of xls, ppt., pdf, doc formats) which include the words“Wuhan”, “WIV”, “Wuhan Institute of Technology”, “Chinese Academy of Sciences” in the title or description.  

4. Unknown - please be as expansive as possible in fulfilling this request 

In plain English: please consider this request to be a comprehensive search for Wuhan-related emails either sent to or from the controversial KGS2@hhs.gov email address.
