From: Jordan Lassiter

Dear Sir/Madam

I am writing to appeal the administrative closure of my Freedom of Information/Privacy Act (FOIPA) request, which was submitted to the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) on February 23, 2023. My request was related to the issue of missing and murdered Indigenous women and children, including cold cases.

In my initial request, I asked for any and all information related to this issue, including statistics on the number of cold cases involving missing and murdered Indigenous women and children in the United States, broken down by state and year, as well as any and all reports, studies, or other documents related to cold cases involving missing and murdered Indigenous women and children. I also requested any and all communication between government agencies, law enforcement, and other entities related to cold cases involving missing and murdered Indigenous women and children, as well as any and all policies, protocols, or procedures related to the investigation of cold cases involving missing and murdered Indigenous women and children.

In response to my request, I received a letter stating that my questions did not comply with the FOIA and its regulations and that my request was being administratively closed. However, I believe that my request was reasonable and that the information I am seeking is not exempt from disclosure under the FOIA.

I respectfully request that you reconsider my FOIPA request and provide me with the information that I have requested. I believe that this information is crucial to understanding the scope of the problem of missing and murdered Indigenous women and children in the United States and to developing effective policies and procedures to address this crisis.

Thank you for your attention to this matter. If you require any further information or clarification, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Sincerely,

Jordan
