Dear Mr. Gerstein:
This email is in response to your request, under the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. § 552, received in this Office on April 14, 2021, in which you seek "a copy of FBI files" on a specifically named individual. Your request has been assigned to me.
Under NLRB Rules and Regulations, 29 C.F.R. § 102.117(c)(1), a FOIA request "must be in writing and must reasonably describe the records in a manner to permit its identification and location." See also 5 U.S.C. 552 (a)(3)(A). Your request fails to reasonably describe the records sought. Please note that you made your request to the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) and not the Federal Bureau of Investigation, a separate Agency.
Please be advised that in order for us to process your request, you will need to provide us with clarifying information so that we may identify the records sought and conduct a search.
Unless you provide clarification of the scope of your request by close of business on May 5, 2021, your request will be closed.
