Pursuant to the Freedom of Information Act, I hereby request the following records:
This request is in reference to Oral History NSA-OH-07-84. Document was declassified and approved for release by NSA on 11-01-2005 pursuant to E.O. 12958 as amended.
Of the 106 pages, only about 3 pages have readable text. The remaining 103 pages are entirely missing, being completely redacted. I wondered whether this was an April fools joke, declassifying an oral history and then withholding most of the document. The oral history I can only guess recounts events during the lead up and early days of the War in Vietnam. On page one we learn that General Gordon Blake, the subject of the oral history interview, was at one point the Director of NSA from July 1962 to May 1965. We are referring to history of approximately 58 years ago. I hereby request that the entire document be given a new assessment so that the declassification process will actually have a meaning somewhat removed from a joke. This is history from half a century ago and it is high time that the public have access to this interview.
The requested documents will be made available to the general public, and this request is not being made for commercial purposes.
In the event that there are fees, I would be grateful if you would inform me of the total charges in advance of fulfilling my request. I would prefer the request filled electronically, by e-mail attachment if available or CD-ROM if not.
