Pursuant to the Freedom of Information Act, I hereby request the following records:

The Official Military Personnel File (OMPF) including all Fitness Report and Counseling forms (NAVPERS Form 1610/2), the most recent Cumulative Record Of Training (NAVPERS Form 5300/16), the Background Summary (NAVPERS Form 1640/32), and Form DD-214, for John Joseph Burnham. Mr Burnham claims to have served in the United States Navy as a Naval officer from 1987 – 2014, achieving the rank of Captain. Please redact any sensitive information protected in accordance with Executive Order 12958 or the Privacy Act of 1974.

John J Burnham works at Accenture Federal Services in the Washington D.C. Metro Area and previously served as Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for Threat Reduction and Arms Control, United States Department of Defense from 2014-2017. Burnham has given motivational public speeches discussing military/government related issues. Because Burnham is considered a government and military expert by the mainstream media and previously served in the senior executive service ranks within the US Department of Defense, there is a need to inform the public of his qualifications and experience. Please respond with an estimation of the amount of time it will take to process the request.

I also request that, if appropriate, fees be waived as I believe this request is in the public interest. The requested documents will be made available to the general public free of charge as part of the public information service at MuckRock.com, processed by a representative of the news media/press and is made in the process of news gathering.
