I also request that, if appropriate, fees be waived as I believe this request is in the public interest. The requested documents will be made available to the general public free of charge as part of the public information service at MuckRock.com, processed by a representative of the news media/press and is made in the process of news gathering and not for commercial usage.
In the event that fees cannot be waived, I would be grateful if you would inform me of the total charges in advance of fulfilling my request. I would prefer the request filled electronically, by e-mail attachment if available or CD-ROM if not.

Your request has been forwarded to the appropriate office(s) within the Defense Threat Reduction Agency (DTRA) for processing. You requested files in the DTRA regarding your files. We make every effort to respond within the 20 business days as stipulated in the FOIA, however the processing of your request may exceed this dependent upon the volume of the responsive documents and the complexity of the processing.
The FOIA provides that information requested may be assessed fees which recover the full direct cost of searching for, reviewing for release, and duplicating the records sought dependent upon the requester’s fee category.
Your request has been placed in the “news media” fee category. In the “news media” fee category, there is no charge for search and review and for the first 100 pages of reproduction. After the first 100 pages, a fee of $0.15 per page is charged you will be advised if estimated assessable fees exceed $25.00.
A decision to waive fees will be made at a future date. A waive or reduction of fees shall be provided when the requested documents are in the public interest and contribute to the public understanding of the operations or activities of the Agency
