To Whom It May Concern:

This is a request under the Freedom of Information Act. I hereby request the following records:

A copy of any files the FBI has on California attorney Aylsworth Crawford Greene III, aka Ford Greene, born December 21, 1952. A Certification of Identity form authorizing the release of this information is attached.

Please search the Central Records System using both the Universal Index and the Electronic Case File search tools, as well as checking the cross-reference and ELSUR indices, when identifying responsive documents for this request.

I also request that, if appropriate, fees be waived as I believe this request is in the public interest due to Mr. Greene's long and diversified history as a public figure and activist. He is well known for having successfully conducted litigation against controversial groups such as the Church of Scientology, the Unification Church and the Church of Self Realization. As a direct result of his anti-cult lawsuits and other anti-authoritarian opposition efforts, he has been the target of harassment, intimidation and defamation. Mr. Greene is also a twice-elected San Anselmo town council member and was voted unanimously by the council to fill the vacant position of mayor from 2010-2011. Due to this history of defending the rights of cult victims plus advocating for freedom of speech, environmental and other political issues, the public interest in the release of Ford Greene's FBI file would be served by aiding a better understanding of how government agencies track or investigate high-profile activist attorneys who become personally involved in controversial causes. Additionally, the requested documents will be made available to the general public, and this request is not being made for commercial purposes.

In the event that fees cannot be waived, I would be grateful if you would inform me of the total charges in advance of fulfilling my request. I would prefer the request filled electronically, by e-mail attachment if available or CD-ROM if not.

Thank you in advance for your anticipated cooperation in this matter. I look forward to receiving your response to this request within 20 business days, as the statute requires.

Sincerely,

Ms. R. M. Seibert
