Pursuant to the Freedom of Information Act, I hereby request the following records:

Files related to American citizen, airforce pilot and space pioneer Edward Joseph Dwight Jr. who trained at Edwards Airforce Base and was a candidate in NASA's space training program in the 1960s. We request copies of all paperwork on file related to this individual.

This request is being made for educational purposes. Alegria Films is a company that produces documentaries with an established track record of high quality projects that shed light on lesser known stories. This information is intended to help inform our research for a documentary project currently in production.

We are attaching DOJ Form 361 signed by Captain Ed Dwight authorizing this request on his behalf.

The requested documents will be made available to the general public, and this request is not being made for commercial purposes.

In the event that there are fees, I would be grateful if you would inform me of the total charges in advance of fulfilling my request. I would prefer the request filled electronically, by e-mail attachment if available or CD-ROM if not.

This letter is in response to your 7 September 2022, Freedom of Information Act request for “files related to American citizen, airforce pilot and space pioneer Edward Joseph Dwight Jr. who trained at Edwards Airforce Base and was a candidate in NASA's space training program in the 1960s."
Due to the time-frame of the information you are seeking, our office is not the appropriate location to process this request.  Therefore, a no records response is provided from this office.
Information related to Air Force Service records from that time frame is likely with the National Personnel Records Center, Military Personnel Records (NPRC-MPR).  The NPRC is the repository of millions of military personnel, health, and medical records of discharged and deceased veterans of all services during the 20th century.  The NPRC (MPR) also stores medical treatment records of retirees from all services, as well as records for dependent and other persons treated at naval medical facilities.
Information from these records is made available upon written request (with signature and date) to the extent allowed by law. This site is provided for those seeking information regarding military personnel, health and medical records stored at NPRC (MPR). Please fill out the attached SF 180 and submit it directly to NPRC.
