To Whom It May Concern:

This is a request under the Freedom of Information Act. I hereby request all guidelines, presentations, policy statements, legal opinions, memoranda, briefs, training manuals, emails, records and any other documents including communications and procurements relating to the CryptoParty movement, created and/or modified between August 2012 and when this request is processed.

Background: the grassroots CryptoParty movement began in late August 2012 as a way to introduce the basics of practical cryptography to the general public.

I also request that, if appropriate, fees be waived as I believe this request is in the public interest. I am a published independent reporter and a current contributor to Forbes (http://www.forbes.com/sites/runasandvik/). I have also had my journalism published on domestic and international blogs.

The requested documents will be made available to the general public free of charge as part of the public information service at MuckRock.com, processed by a representative of the news media/press and is made in the process of news gathering and not for commercial usage.

In the event that fees cannot be waived, I would be grateful if you would inform me of the total charges in advance of fulfilling my request. I would prefer the request filled electronically, by e-mail attachment if available or CD-ROM if not.

Thank you in advance for your anticipated cooperation in this matter. I look forward to receiving your response to this request within 20 business days, as the statute requires.

Runa,

Please be advised that merely omitting the word "procurement" from your request does not perfect your request.

As advised in our letter to you dated May 29, 2014, your request as stated is overly broad. You must advise us which component
at DHS you believe may have responsive records.

Please see component contact info at: http://www.dhs.gov/foia-contact-information .
