This is a request under the Freedom of Information Act. I hereby request the following records:

All records and case files relating to DMCA take downs of CAD files from the internet (in particular from thingiverse.com) and all documents pertaining to any resulting criminal and civil claims made under the provisions of the DMCA.

The requested documents will be made available to the general public, and this request is not being made for commercial purposes.

In the event that fees cannot be waived, I would be grateful if you would inform me of the total charges in advance of fulfilling my request. I would prefer the request filled electronically, by e-mail attachment if available or CD-ROM if not.

Thank you in advance for your anticipated cooperation in this matter. I look forward to receiving your response to this request within 20 business days, as the statute requires.

The subject is any legal action taken against websites (such as thingiverse.com ), which host CAD filed that allow for the 3D printing of digital blueprints. Some of CAD files that have been or continue to be publicly available that are illegal are firearms and associated weapons and munitions, as well as drug paraphernalia. Departments of the DOJ that would most likely deal with these sorts of issues are ATFE and the DEA.
