To Whom It May Concern:

Pursuant to the Freedom of Information Act, I hereby request the following records:

I would like copies of all tweets deleted by the U.S. Air Force (@usairforce) from January 2009 to the date of this FOIA request (December 6, 2018). This would include any tweets sent out on Twitter that were deleted or kept in draft form from the Twitter account @usairforce. This request also would include copies of any e-mails or correspondence regarding the deletion of these tweets. Additionally, I would like to request the @usairforce full Twitter archive, including the .CSV file that is available to the managers of the @usairforce account by requesting a copy of their own Twitter archive.

I am a doctoral student at the Annenberg School for Communication at the University of Pennsylvania, where I research social media use by U.S. federal agencies. I have given talks on this subject at conferences held by the International Communication Association, Harvard Law School, Trinity College, the National Forum of the Ethics for Archiving the Web. I have published on this topic in a range of publications, including Slate. This FOIA request is part of research for an ongoing piece of academic research as part of my doctoral dissertation, and as such, I am requesting a fee waiver. I have submitted versions of this FOIA request to other agencies, including the Office of Government Ethics, and in the process, I have been granted this fee waiver without question.

My full academic credentials and profile are available here for your review: https://www.asc.upenn.edu/people/students/muira-mccammon

The requested documents will be made available to the general public, and this request is not being made for commercial purposes.

In the event that there are fees, I would be grateful if you would inform me of the total charges in advance of fulfilling my request. I would prefer the request filled electronically, by e-mail attachment if available or CD-ROM if not.

Thank you in advance for your anticipated cooperation in this matter. I look forward to receiving your response to this request within 20 business days, as the statute requires.

Sincerely,

Muira McCammon
