To Whom It May Concern:

This is a request under the Freedom of Information Act. I hereby request the following records:

Records of items seized by the TSA at Omaha-Eppley Airfield in Omaha, Neb. (OMA), from 2001 to present, including items dropped in so-called "amnesty boxes" prior to entering airport security.

(I made the same request in 2011 while working at the Sioux Falls Argus Leader; I don't have the FOIA number handy, but the ensuing correspondence with a FOIA officer on that filing might be useful in fulfilling this request.)

I also request that fees be waived, as I believe this request is in the public interest. The requested documents will be made available to the general public free of charge as part of the public information service at MuckRock.com, processed by a reporter working for the Omaha World-Herald and is made in the process of news gathering and not for commercial usage.

In the event that fees cannot be waived, I would be grateful if you would inform me of the total charges in advance of fulfilling my request.

I would prefer that the records be sent electronically by email or, failing that, CD-ROM. If the data already are stored as structured data, I request that they be provided in whatever native format allows them to be imported into standard database or spreadsheet software. Examples include an Excel .xls or .xlsx file, an Access .mdb or .accdb file, a text-based delimited file, a .dbf file or an SQL dump readable by standard open-source database software. If this information is stored in a relational database, I request that it be provided in its original relational format, not "flattened" or de-normalized.

Thank you in advance for your anticipated cooperation in this matter. I look forward to receiving your response to this request within 20 business days, as the statute requires.

Sincerely,

Cody Winchester

From: FOIA

Good morning,

Your FOIA request has been received in the office for processing and assigned case number 2014-TSFO-01428. Our office has received a high volume of requests which has resulted in a backlog. It is TSA’s practice to assign requests into one of two tracks based on the complexity of the request and to process cases within the two tracks on a first-in, first-out basis. Your request has been assigned to the simple track. At this time we anticipate an additional six months if simple track to complete the processing of your request. If you are interested in narrowing the scope of your request to reduce the processing time, we are available to discuss this with you, either by email to this address or by telephone at 1-866-364-2872. Thank you for your patience in this matter.

a current copy of the Immigration and Customs Enforcement's database of detainees excluding any fields that contain records with personally identifiable information. "Current," for the purposes of this request, means a complete data pull performed as close to the date of fulfillment as possible.
In conducting a search for responsive records, the ICE FOIA office has determined that further clarification is needed regarding your request. Please identify specific data fields you would like included in a data pull. To assist you in identifying these fields, the program office conducting the search listed fields that would could be reasonably pulled, including Book-In-Date, Detention Facility, AOR (Book-In), Case Status, Case Category, Final Order Flag, Final Order Date, Country of Citizenship, Removal Case Threat Level, Arrest Program (where available). Please provide the ICE FOIA office with a response as soon as possible to avoid any further delay in the processing of your request. If a response is not received within 10 business days, your request will be administratively closed.
Sincerely,
ICE FOIA

From: Cody Winchester
