Pursuant to the Freedom of Information Act, I hereby request the following records:

All emails sent to, from, or copied to: Dan Brouillette, from January 1, 2016 to Present Day containing any of the following non-case-sensitive key-string "liberals", "kushner", "Giuliani", "Mastroianni", "Elliott Broidy", "Mark Siffin", "George Nader", "Erik Prince", "alias", "FOIA", "Israel" or "whistleblower". After conducting a search to determine how many email records exist, if these records are too cumbersome to go through, please let me know the total number of records for the time period requested and I may desire to modify my request to limit the keywords or timeframe.

You may exclude emails that may be classified as newsletters, junk, or spam.

The requested documents will be made available to the general public, and this request is not being made for commercial purposes.

In the event that there are fees, I would be grateful if you would inform me of the total charges in advance of fulfilling my request. I would prefer the request filled electronically, by e-mail attachment if available or CD-ROM if not.

Thank you in advance for your anticipated cooperation in this matter. I look forward to receiving your response to this request within 20 business days, as the statute requires.

Sincerely,

Taylor Amarel

Re: Pending DOE FOIA Requests (HQ-2018-01167-F and HQ-2018-01168-F)

Ms. Amarel,

I'm happy to discuss via email. In the interest of processing your requests quickly and efficiently, I have a few suggestions.

First, would you be willing to combine these requests under one control number to make communication a bit easier? If so, I'll combine them under control number HQ-2018-01167-F and close out HQ-2018-01168-F.

Second, I have started to review the search results for your requests and there is a considerable amount of material. If we limit the scope of the requests, as you mentioned in your email, I will be able to process them much faster for you.

Are there specific documents you are looking for? If so, I can try to locate them for you.

Alternatively, would you be willing to waive email attachments? Many of the email attachments are either publicly available documents, or pre-decisional drafts that will most likely be heavily redacted by the time you receive them.

Please let me know how to proceed. Thank you very much, and safe travels.
Best,
Rachel

Thank you, my responses are below:

-Yes you can do this.

Second, I have started to review the search results for your requests and there is a considerable amount of material. If we limit the scope of the requests, as you mentioned in your email, I will be able to process them much faster for you.

-Given the volume of results, could you please exclude the following keywords: "alias", "FOIA", "Israel". You may also ignore newsletters, spam, or junk mail.

Thank you,
Taylor Amarel

Ms. Amarel,

Thanks very much for your reply. We will combine these requests under control number HQ-2018-01167-F and exclude the keywords "alias", "FOIA", and "Israel."

Are you willing to waive email attachments as well, as I suggested earlier this week? Even with the above search terms excluded, there will still be a large amount of material to review and process, particularly if we include the attachments. If this is not an option though, just let me know- I just wanted to clarify your answer below.
Best,
Rachel

Dear Ms. Amarel,

The responsive documents are in the final stages of review. Unfortunately, this means that they are currently with another program office, so it's difficult for me to gauge exactly when they will be ready to go.

I hope to send them in the next two weeks, however. If you have any follow-up questions or concerns, please let me know.
Best,
Rachel

If you have any other questions, please feel free to contact me.
Best,
Rachel

Ms. Amarel,

Your request is still under review. I had to request a consult from another office for some of the documents, so I'm currently waiting to receive a response to that. I sent them a reminder yesterday though.

If there are any updates, I'll let you know.
Thanks,
Rachel

From:

Ms. Amarel,

I don't have any updates to report. I'm still waiting for the consult response to come back so that I can move this forward in the review process.

If there are any further developments, I'll let you know.
Thanks,
Rachel
