To Whom It May Concern:

This is a request under the Freedom of Information Act. I hereby request the following records:

Records associated with DoD Cybercom "Joint Task Force Ares". Please see article https://www.engadget.com/2016/07/16/pentagon-joint-task-force-ares/ detailing public background on this program, alleviating any claims of sensitivity for these records today. Please indicate any records withheld for any reason. Thank you!

The requested documents will be made available to the general public, and this request is not being made for commercial purposes.

In the event that there are fees, I would be grateful if you would inform me of the total charges in advance of fulfilling my request. I would prefer the request filled electronically, by e-mail attachment if available or CD-ROM, DVD-R, or BD-R if not.

Thank you in advance for your anticipated cooperation in this matter. I look forward to receiving your response to this request within 20 business days, as the statute requires.

Sincerely,

Martin Peck

Sir,

I was contacted by the OSD/JS FOIA Office today concerning your request for records associated with the DoD CYBERCOM JTFA you allegedly emailed to them on 29 July. They related they have no record of receiving your request and after review, believed that it should have been sent to USSTRATCOM. I told them I didn't recollect receiving your request, however, I was processing a request for similar information. I told them I would accept your request.

I'm currently processing a request from Jennifer Rimer, National Security Archive. She's seeking a copy of the Rogers Directive, or any other document establishing the Joint Task Force Areas. CYBERCOM has located this particular document and is conducting a FOIA review. I should be receiving it soon for USSTRATCOM review. Since CYBERCOM is one of our subordinate commands, they do not have the authority to release documents under FOIA.

I propose I'll log in your request and provide the document to you when I'm ready to send it out to Ms. Rimer. After your review, if you do not believe it to be responsive, re-engage with me.

Please let me know if this is okay by you.
Thanks,

v/r
Kendall

Sir,

The last update from CYBERCOM I have was on 3 November. As of that date, the document was with their legal office. My FOIA guy at CYBERCOM is not working today, so I'll have to follow-up with him next week. Can't imagine it taking much longer to process.

Sir, I'm pretty sure the CYBERCOM FOIA guy is on Christmas and New Year's leave. I've emailed him and will let you know what he says.

Sorry about the delay. Without physically being there, I just can't say what the delay is.

Hi sir,

The information you requested was also very similar to an earlier request made by another person. CYBERCOM forwarded me three documents they determined to be responsive to the earlier request and also yours on 24 Jan 17 with their proposed withholdings. I'm trying to set aside time to conduct my review, but I've gotten many requests going. So I'm chipping away as I can.

My goal is to have these documents processed to both you and the other requester by mid-February.

Sir, sorry, but I missed my goal of mid-February. I do have them in final format ready for legal review. I will be pushing them to the attorney hopefully by tomorrow COB.

Good morning all,

It was pointed out to me that I failed to strike through a classification marking on page 19, Section 3.B.14.1 when I sent it down to be posted in our FOIA e-reading room. I have corrected, and am now resending them to you all. Please substitute this one with the original, or just disregard.

Thank you and sorry to have to send this out again.
